Helena has a degree in media through Irish from the NUIGalway. She was CRAOL Award winner for Irish language programming in her local radio station. She then worked as a presenter and researcher for Raidió na Life and as Cuntóir Gaeilge (Irish Language Assistant) with CRAOL which is an umbrella organisation for 23 community radio stations across Ireland.
Her passion is broadcasting. She did the Radio Skills Training Course at Raidió Fáilte and the Park Studio TV Production, Direction and Presentation course which gave her training in radio and TV broadcasting. She worked as a Production Assistant/Junior Researcher on the Seven O’Clock Show with presenters Martin Kind & Lucy Kennedy on TV3 (now known as the Six O’Clock Show). She was also presenter and producer of various online TV stations.
At Stillwater Communications she worked on huge PR campaigns such as Darkness Into Light the Pieta House annual fundraising and awareness event which takes place in 180 venues across the world in May each year. Along with working on Irish language events, such as the media awards and the Oireachtas na Samhna which is a week-long festival celebrating the Gaelic traditional arts.
She worked as PRO to help promote local, community and charity events such as the World Record Breaking Dundalk Santa Fun Run (which raised awareness and funds for local charities), the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Dundalk and most recently for the first ever Darkness Into Light Dundalk in 2017.
On the weekend’s Helena is a Roving Reporter for the local radio station LMFM, promoting different community events in the North East of Ireland and also works in her parents family run B&B, Glen Gat Guesthouse. She also loves acting and singing and takes part in at least one stage production a year.
