I finally qualified!

This is something that I wanted to do for almost 10 years & I kept putting it off. But this year, I decided to do a course alongside working full-time & I’m delighted to say that I am now a qualified Make-Up Artist!

I completed the Vanity X PRO Make-up Diploma & now I’m ITEC Certified. I loved art in school & I used to spend hours doing my make-up at the weekends. The course re-ignited that love of make-up & being more creative- I can now apply strip lashes in seconds!

I think this love stems from my mother who always buys fabulous make-up which I sometimes borrow (indefinitely). She named me after her favourite Make-up brand creator, Helena Rubeinstein, who “‘invented’ the beauty industry, giving women stuff we didn’t realise we needed.” I found a wonderful article in the Irish Examiner about her life & it also read that “She ‘invented’ mascara, including the world’s first waterproof variety, in 1939.” She came from poverty, ended up marrying a Prince and has been described as the ‘Mother of the Beauty Industry’.

1950s Style

Festival Look

We had a photo shoot at the end of our course & I created a 1950s & a festival style look on my beautiful model, Aine Cotter.

I would thoroughly recommend this course if you are looking to learn how to make the best of yourself & get a taste of what it would be like as a working Make-Up Artist. You’ll definitely gain confidence in doing your own make-up & others too. It was a big commitment along with a full-time job but I it was worth it.

Onwards & upwards and I hope I get many opportunities to use my new found skills.
