Last week I finished up my 18 month contract with LMFM as Social Media Manager. I started out as a reporter almost four years ago & I’ve loved covering their events. I was mostly a weekend reporter so when I was offered the full-time 18 month contract, I jumped at the chance. It was a huge learning curve for us all as this was a new role for LMFM.
We’ve worked on so many amazing campaigns, from ‘Win a Dream Wedding’ (yes, a wedding totally paid for!) to the ‘Irish Road Safety Week’ where I was working behind the scenes on creating content to complement what the on-air team were up to. I loved the creative side to my role. I am so grateful for all of the opportunities, from supporting my efforts to interviewing our President of Ireland at the launch of this year’s Fleadh Cheoil, to creating content myself, for example The Handy Stores video which reached over 200,000 people. LMFM’s social media following grew over the past 18 months & I with it. So when I was offered a permanent role, it was very tempting.
Before I was due to start full time at LMFM, my plan was that I would help run my parent’s B&B, Glen Gat Guesthouse. My future has always been the family business. I decided not to take the permanent role at LMFM & work towards the future of the guesthouse. I also want to learn all I can from my parents about running a successful business in the heart of Dundalk. I love dealing with the public & there is so much going on on a daily basis so I’m looking forward to my next chapter!
LMFM have been so supportive of my decision & I want to thank all of the team for everything I’ve learned over the past 18 months. I’ll still be reporting at various events & I’m open to other media opportunities in the future. But for now, I want to learn the ropes at Glen Gat & enjoy the reporting jobs when the need arises!
Thank you all for your well wishes & messages across social media last week. I’m not going anywhere, just back where I belong.
